Heavy Duty Mechanic

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain and repair a fleet of construction and mining equipment, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers and trucks. The role involves ensuring all machinery operates safely and efficiently in a demanding onsite environment.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair heavy‑duty equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers and trucks.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, hydraulic, braking and transmission systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults to maintain equipment reliability.
• Carry out routine servicing: oil changes, filter replacement, lubrication and system checks.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and maintenance instructions.
• Execute welding, fabrication and component replacement when required.
• Record maintenance activities and report breakdowns to supervisors.
• Adhere to health, safety and environmental regulations at all times.

Required profile

• Certificate, diploma or technical qualification in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or a related field.
• 2–5 years of proven experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and heavy‑equipment systems.
• Physical fitness to work in demanding onsite conditions.
• Team player with good communication skills.
