Investment Support Officer

About the role

The Investment Support Officer will join the FAO Investment Centre’s West and Central Africa Service in Accra, Ghana. The role provides analytical and technical assistance to governments and partners for investment and finance initiatives that strengthen agrifood systems, rural development and natural resource management.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in multidisciplinary teams to identify, prepare and appraise investment and finance support projects in agriculture, food security, natural resource management and agro‑processing.
• Support the implementation, monitoring and final evaluation of investment solutions, ensuring alignment with FAO strategic objectives.
• Conduct pre‑appraisal and appraisal missions, providing technical inputs on economic, financial, water resources, irrigation, agribusiness, market access and risk management aspects.
• Collaborate with country stakeholders, financing institutions, private sector actors and research organisations to build capacity and deliver impact at scale.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background and demonstrated expertise in at least one of the technical focus areas (e.g., agricultural development, finance, water resources, agribusiness, natural resource management).
• Strong analytical abilities and experience supporting investment planning, policy formulation or project evaluation.
• Proven ability to work in multicultural environments and engage with government and development partners.
