Energy Lead

About the role

The Energy Lead operates at the site level within Barry Callebaut's technical department, reporting to the Technical Manager. The role works cross‑functionally with plant, maintenance, production and sustainability teams to drive energy efficiency, reduce consumption and support the company’s CO₂ and GHG reduction targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a multi‑year energy and GHG reduction roadmap aligned with corporate 2030 targets and Science‑Based Targets initiative.
• Continuously monitor site energy consumption through the Energy Management System (EMS), identify trends, anomalies and provide actionable insights.
• Assess assets, processes and systems to uncover energy‑saving opportunities and lead implementation projects, including equipment upgrades and process optimisation.
• Ensure compliance with all energy‑related regulatory requirements and support internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, energy consultants and regulatory bodies to deliver best‑practice solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in site‑level energy management or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong understanding of GHG accounting, renewable energy integration and low‑carbon technologies.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Excellent analytical skills to interpret energy data and drive continuous improvement.
