Head of Instructional Technology (Systems Unit)

About the role

The Head of Instructional Technology will lead the Systems Unit responsible for planning, organizing and evaluating the technologies, hardware, software and other resources that support the university’s online course delivery system. This senior position reports to senior university management and plays a strategic role in enhancing digital learning across all faculties.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the university’s instructional technology strategy to ensure effective online teaching and learning.
• Oversee the selection, deployment and maintenance of hardware, software and learning management systems.
• Coordinate with academic departments to align technology solutions with curriculum needs.
• Manage the Systems Unit staff, providing leadership, mentorship and performance evaluation.
• Monitor technology performance, conduct evaluations and recommend improvements.
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies, data security and accessibility standards.

Required profile

• Minimum Master’s degree.
• At least five years of experience in a tertiary institution, with three years in a leadership role within a related department.
• Demonstrated experience in managing instructional technology initiatives.
• Strong understanding of online course delivery and e‑learning environments.
