Principal, Mining Projects

About the role

The Principal, Mining Projects leads planning, governance and delivery of capital mining projects and studies to support safe, efficient and sustainable operations at AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi site. Reporting to the Director of Projects, the role provides technical leadership across the project engineering function and ensures alignment with Life‑of‑Mine plans and strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and construction of mining infrastructure such as lateral and vertical developments, material handling, ventilation and evacuation systems.
• Oversee evaluation of mining projects from pre‑feasibility through final engineering and construction, ensuring technical, financial and operational viability.
• Manage and mentor the project engineering team, establishing development plans, performance support and succession planning.
• Conduct regular underground inspections to verify compliance with approved designs, work instructions and QA/QC requirements.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental standards and local mining regulations throughout project execution.
• Prioritize, schedule and control project scope, cost, timeline and safety requirements in line with approved plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale mining capital projects or studies.
• Strong knowledge of Life‑of‑Mine planning, underground mining methods and construction techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and governance within a project engineering environment.
• Excellent understanding of HSE standards and local mining regulations.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and driving continuous improvement.
