Project Officer

About the role

Concern Universal is launching a 30‑month European Union/ACP funded micro‑finance project that will operate across six districts in Brong‑Ahafo, Eastern and Volta Regions of Ghana. The Project Officer will be the primary point of contact for project beneficiaries, coordinating training events, managing resources and fostering participation of smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs. This role is based in Techiman and focuses on building sustainable community‑based savings and loan groups.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate the formation and strengthening of Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs).
• Organise and deliver relevant training sessions for project beneficiaries.
• Manage training materials, budgets and logistical arrangements.
• Encourage active participation of smallholder farmers and local entrepreneurs in all project activities.
• Maintain regular communication and relationships with beneficiaries, district officials and other stakeholders.
• Prepare and submit periodic project reports and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Development Studies, Social Sciences or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience working with Village Savings and Loans Schemes or similar community finance initiatives.
• Ability to engage effectively with smallholder farmers and rural entrepreneurs.
• Strong organisational skills and capacity to manage multiple training events simultaneously.
