Senior Manager, Platform Operations

About the role

The Senior Manager, Platform Operations will provide strategic leadership, governance and operational excellence for MTN’s enterprise technology platforms. Reporting to the General Manager, IT Operations, the role ensures platform availability, resilience, security and continuous improvement across a multinational telecom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the enterprise platform operations strategy, driving continuous improvement and reliability.
• Lead all operational activities for platform engineering, DevOps, database administration, middleware, automation and monitoring.
• Oversee API platform management (APIGEE/MADAPI, Enterprise Service Framework) and champion modern software delivery practices.
• Build and mature DevOps capabilities, define CI/CD standards, implement Infrastructure as Code and promote GitOps.
• Provide strategic leadership for database platforms (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra) ensuring high availability, backup, recovery and performance tuning.
• Ensure platforms meet availability targets, drive high‑availability, redundancy, disaster‑recovery and capacity‑management initiatives.
• Automate manual operational tasks and improve deployment lead times, release frequency and success rates.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in platform operations, DevOps and database administration within a large, regulated telecom or ICT organization.
• Strong strategic leadership and governance skills, with a track record of delivering reliable, scalable and cost‑efficient technology ecosystems.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, multicultural and performance‑driven environment.
