Sr. Specialist, Mining Construction

About the role

The Senior Specialist, Mining Construction will lead and coordinate underground mining projects at Obuasi Mine, ensuring safe, timely and cost‑effective delivery of infrastructure. The role provides expert advice on design compliance, develops construction procedures and promotes a strong safety culture throughout project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate at least 30% of time to support site safety compliance and foster a zero‑harm culture.
• Maintain a minimum of 60% underground presence to validate designs, support execution teams and drive continuous improvement.
• Develop detailed construction plans, level‑6 schedules and resource allocations for each project phase.
• Coordinate communication between engineering, planning and construction teams, and manage documentation with QA/QC engineers.
• Monitor project expenditure, report cost performance and implement corrective actions to avoid rework and schedule delays.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mining, Mechanical, Structural, Civil or related engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of underground mining experience with exposure to infrastructure or project‑focused roles.
• Valid Ghanaian manual driver’s licence and ability to work underground as required.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret safety risks, analyse data and make tactical decisions.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AUTOCAD.
• Strong command of the MS Office Suite.
