Superintendent – Mine Planning

About the role

The Superintendent, Mine Planning will develop and oversee mine plans ranging from two‑year strategic plans down to daily operational plans. The role ensures alignment with production goals, regulatory requirements, and Newmont’s long‑term strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee <2‑year mine plans (BP and QF) to align with the 5‑year plan, production targets and regulatory standards.
• Create and manage monthly, weekly and daily mine plans, ensuring consistency with the business plan and production goals.
• Produce reconciliation reports of performance versus plan on daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual bases.
• Continuously improve mining activities through design revisions, updated block models, financial and operational input reviews, and fleet assessments.
• Provide direction and support to mine operations, driving continuous‑improvement projects while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.
• Lead the Mine Planning team, coordinate training, development and Fatality Risk Management initiatives.
• Prepare scope‑of‑work documentation, budgets and manage mine‑planning consultants and contracts.
• Collaborate with consultants and contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards and contractual obligations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in mining.
• Extensive experience in mine planning, design, scheduling and operations at large sites.
• At least 5 years supervising multi‑disciplinary teams.
