Technical Office Manager

About the role

The Technical Office Manager will lead the Technical Office, acting as the central hub for design, engineering, planning, estimation and contract management. Reporting to the General Manager, the role translates strategic priorities into actionable work plans and ensures seamless coordination across all project phases.

Key responsibilities

• Establish the Technical Office as the focal point for design, engineering, planning, quantities, contracts and estimation.
• Translate General Manager priorities into clear work plans, deliverables, responsibilities and review deadlines.
• Plan workloads across tenders and active projects, assign leads and balance priorities against capacity.
• Identify specialist support, software, consultant and staffing needs and recommend approvals.
• Coach the Technical Office team, review performance and develop succession and technical capability.
• Control design programme, responsibility matrix, deliverable schedule and consultant interfaces from concept through construction.
• Coordinate architectural, structural, civil and MEP design inputs, resolve clashes and ensure independent checks.
• Lead multidisciplinary design reviews, value engineering and present alternatives to the General Manager.
• Coordinate construction methods, sequencing, logistics and temporary works procedures.

Required profile

• Executive level qualification.
• Minimum 144 months (12 years) of relevant experience in construction engineering or technical office management.
• Proven leadership and ability to coach multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong experience in design coordination across architectural, structural, civil and MEP disciplines.
