Winder Engine Driver

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, fully mechanised underground operation. We are looking for an experienced Winder Engine Driver to operate hoists and cage winders safely and efficiently, supporting our goal of producing up to 5,000 t/day of ore.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and drive winder (Man & Rock) equipment in compliance with LI2182 standards.
• Conduct periodic audits of winding equipment and report findings.
• Perform daily visual checks, motor current and flux data collection, and complete pre‑start/shift handover check sheets.
• Log equipment performance on the asset health system and initiate corrective actions.
• Report anomalies to the Senior Winder Driver and generate work requests in SAP for maintenance planning.
• Stop equipment when a high risk or unsafe condition is identified.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Winder Driver in underground mining.
• Valid Winder Engine Driver certificate of competency issued by the Chief Inspector of Mines (LI2182).
• Secondary education background.

Required skills

• Winder operation and hoist control.
• Compliance with LI2182 regulations.
• Use of SAP for work request creation.
• Condition monitoring and asset health reporting.
