Winder Engine Driver

About the role

The Winder Engine Driver operates underground hoist and cage winders at the Obuasi Gold Mine, ensuring compliance with LI2182 regulations and company safety standards. This position supports the fully mechanised underground mining operation by maximising plant availability in a safe, sustainable and cost‑effective manner.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and drive man‑and‑rock winders (Adansi‑3, GCS‑3, BSVS‑3, KMS‑3, KRS‑3) in strict compliance with LI2182.
• Conduct periodic audits of winding equipment and report findings.
• Perform daily visual checks, motor current and flux data collection, and complete pre‑start/shift handover check sheets.
• Log equipment performance on the asset health system and trigger corrective actions when required.
• Report anomalies to the Senior Winder Driver and generate work requests in SAP for maintenance planning.
• Stop equipment if a high risk or unsafe condition is identified.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Winder Driver in underground mining.
• Secondary education completed.
• Valid Winder Engine Driver certificate of competency issued by the Chief Inspector of Mines (LI2182).
• Strong analytical ability to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
