Accountant – STRIDES Project

About the role

The Accountant will support the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) project in Ghana, ensuring accurate recording, classification and analysis of financial transactions for the project and the country office.

Key responsibilities

• Review and consolidate monthly financial reports for the Ghana office, including cash and travel reconciliations.
• Process and record journal entries, cash receipts, field cash management and wire payments.
• Prepare VAT reimbursement reports for submission to the Department of State.
• Review subcontractor financial reports and support timely disbursements.
• Maintain general ledger and subsidiary accounts, reconcile sub‑recipients, and produce accounting reports.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests, system upgrades and accounting process improvements.
• Conduct live training sessions for field programs on financial systems and processes.
• Prepare risk assessment reports for the field office.

Required profile

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and related reporting guidelines.
• Experience with VAT reimbursement and financial analysis.
• Ability to maintain accurate financial records and support audit processes.
• Familiarity with nonprofit or development project finance is advantageous.
