Accounting Officer

About the role

The Accounting Officer will support the finance function of a hospital, ensuring accurate processing of payments, receivables, and statutory obligations. This full‑time position works closely with multiple departments to maintain financial integrity and provide timely reporting for management.

Key responsibilities

• Document and improve financial processes for accounts payable, receivable, cash management and other transactions.
• Validate vendor invoices, record payments in SAP Business One, and maintain vendor account balances.
• Prepare aging analyses, utilities payable reports and statutory schedules (SSNIT, Tier 2, PAYE, WHT).
• Liaise with radiology and cost‑sharing departments to process third‑party payments.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet schedules, including AP, AR, bank accounts, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register and support operating budget preparation.
• Produce monthly P&L reports, support month‑end and year‑end closing, and assist in financial statement preparation.
• Provide documentation for internal and external audits and verify locum payment schedules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA or CA).
• 3–5 years of experience in an accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations and financial reporting.
