Africa Economic Analyst – Natural Resource Governance

About the role

The Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) is seeking an experienced Africa Economic Analyst to join its Ghana program. The analyst will support NRGI’s mission to improve natural resource governance across Africa by providing rigorous economic and policy analysis on revenue management, extractives, and the energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct strategic economic research and both quantitative and qualitative analysis on extractives governance, revenue management, and transition minerals.
• Develop, adapt, and apply economic and financial models, synthesising complex datasets related to mines, minerals and project economics.
• Produce high‑quality research outputs, including policy briefs, blogs, opinion pieces and other thought‑leadership materials.
• Provide economic analysis, policy advice and technical assistance to inform Ghana program strategy and regional initiatives.
• Design and deliver technical assistance, training workshops, conferences and stakeholder dialogues.
• Manage projects, consultants, budgets, timelines and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in economic analysis, preferably within natural resource sectors such as oil, gas, mining or energy transition.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
