Backend Developer

About the role

Zof AI is seeking a Backend Developer to own the services, APIs, and data layer that power its AI agent fleets. The role involves job orchestration, queueing for long‑running agent runs, Postgres schema design, and managing storage paths for evidence and validation artifacts.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the services and APIs that the agent fleets run on.
• Build job orchestration and queueing systems to keep long‑running agent work moving.
• Own Postgres schema design, migrations, and query performance as data grows.
• Ship storage and retrieval paths for evidence and traces produced by each agent run.
• Instrument services for observability, debugging, and recovery.
• Harden reliability with testing, retries, idempotency, and back‑pressure under real load.
• Partner with product and AI engineers to turn agent behavior into stable interfaces.
• Own backend systems from design through production.

Required profile

• Experience building and shipping backend services in production.
• Strong software engineering foundation.
• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with APIs, queues, and asynchronous job processing.
• Ability to debug performance and correctness issues in running systems.
• Habit of proving work with tests and evidence before shipping.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfort operating in a fast‑moving environment.
