CIC & OT Technician

About the role

The CIC & OT Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, configuring, fault‑finding and repairing communication, instrumentation, control and operational technology systems that support mining operations both underground and on the surface. The role ensures system availability, integrity and security while complying with engineering standards and mine safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and troubleshoot underground and surface communication systems such as leaky feeder, radio, VoIP, telephony and emergency public‑address systems.
• Terminate, test and maintain data and fibre‑optic networks, switches, wireless access points, patch panels and structured cabling.
• Support OT infrastructure including servers, industrial network devices, backups, user access management and patching.
• Calibrate, test and maintain field instrumentation (transmitters, sensors, level, flow, pressure and temperature devices) and associated control loops.
• Provide PLC and SCADA support, including fault diagnosis, signal tracing and I/O checks.
• Install, maintain and fault‑find CCTV, access‑control, tracking and monitoring systems and their power supplies.
• Participate in planned maintenance shutdowns, equipment overhauls and commissioning of new or repaired systems.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration reports, network documentation and promptly report defects or safety risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic, Telecommunications, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, IT or equivalent, with at least 3 years relevant experience, OR Technician Part III certificate with at least 5 years practical experience in mining or heavy industry.
• Relevant certifications such as MINCOM, CCNA (or equivalent), instrumentation and calibration training, permit‑to‑work, LOTO, working at heights and first‑aid are highly desirable.
• Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, verbal communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to manage stress and time effectively.
