CIC & OT Technician – Mining Communications & Control

About the role

The CIC & OT Technician will install, maintain and troubleshoot communication, instrumentation and control systems that keep our mining operations running safely and efficiently. Working both underground and on the surface at the Obuasi mine, you will ensure the reliability and security of all OT infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and fault‑find underground and surface communication systems, including leaky feeder, radio, telephony, VoIP, public address and emergency communication.
• Terminate, test and maintain data and fibre‑optic networks, switches, wireless access points, patch panels and structured cabling.
• Support OT infrastructure such as servers, industrial network devices, system backups, user access management and patching.
• Calibrate, test and maintain field instrumentation (transmitters, sensors, level, flow, pressure and temperature devices) and associated control loops.
• Assist PLC, SCADA and automation systems with fault diagnosis, signal tracing and I/O checks.
• Install, maintain and troubleshoot CCTV, access‑control, tracking and monitoring systems and their power supplies.
• Participate in planned maintenance shutdowns, equipment overhauls and commissioning of new or repaired systems.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration reports, network documentation and promptly report defects or safety risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic, Telecommunications, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering or IT with at least 3 years relevant experience, OR Technician Part III with 5 years practical experience in mining or heavy industry.
• MINCOM certification and a network certification (e.g., CCNA) are essential.
• Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making and communication skills; ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
