Clinical Mentor – Newborn Respiratory Care Project

About the role

Project HOPE is seeking a Clinical Mentor to lead newborn respiratory care capacity building in district hospitals across Accra, Ghana. The mentor will work under the Senior Technical Advisor – MNCH to improve identification, stabilization and management of newborns with respiratory distress.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to frontline healthcare providers in newborn respiratory care.
• Design and deliver competency‑based mentorship, simulation‑based learning sessions and bedside coaching.
• Conduct supportive supervision and quality‑improvement interventions to strengthen clinical practice.
• Collaborate with Project Manager, Ghana Health Service, Regional Health Directorates and hospital management to integrate evidence‑based newborn care into routine services.
• Utilise existing data systems (DHIMS2, facility registers) for monitoring and reporting.

Required profile

• Clinical experience in newborn or neonatal respiratory care.
• Proven experience in mentorship, training or capacity‑building of health‑care staff.
• Familiarity with Ghana’s public health system and district hospital settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including government health agencies.
