Clinical Specialist

About the role

The Clinical Specialist will support the delivery of integrated HIV clinical care and laboratory services across EpiC Ghana implementation sites, working closely with the Ghana Ministry of Health, NACP, regional and district health directorates, and partner organizations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor HIV clinical care and laboratory services, including treatment continuity, viral load, and advanced HIV disease activities.
• Provide technical and quality‑assurance support to health facilities, ART centers, and community treatment staff to ensure high‑quality care for PLHIV, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and HIV‑exposed infants.
• Coordinate supply‑chain availability of ARVs, HTS test kits, PrEP commodities, TB prophylaxis drugs, and viral load reagents.
• Strengthen specimen collection, referral, transport, and point‑of‑care diagnostic services for viral load, CD4, PCR, and TB/HIV testing.
• Develop and facilitate clinical and laboratory training, prepare technical reports, and contribute to performance monitoring and quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor with specialization in family medicine, infectious diseases, internal medicine, or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in HIV‑care program management, including at least 5 years supervising program implementation.
• Experience with USAID/PEPFAR‑funded programs and handling electronic medical record systems (EMR, E‑Sante, PLR).

Required skills

• Proficiency with EMR platforms (EMR, E‑Sante, PLR) for lab result integration.
• Technical knowledge of viral load testing, PCR testing for early infant diagnosis, TB testing, and self‑testing diagnostics.
• Strong command of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to travel nationally and internationally as required.
• Fluent written and oral English communication.
