College Librarian – Leadership Role in Academic Library

About the role

The College Librarian provides leadership in advancing the college's teaching and research mission through a clear vision of the library's role, strategic planning, emerging technology, fiscal management and community engagement. The incumbent holds overall responsibility for the library, research and information needs of the college.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the professional and administrative head of the college library.
• Establish and maintain procedures, policies and systems for efficient library operation.
• Develop, implement and monitor the college library strategic plan.
• Direct and coordinate library components, including staff, services, collections and external relations.
• Plan, organize, coordinate and evaluate the work of all library personnel.
• Represent the library in contacts with college administration and committees.
• Collaborate with institutional libraries and organisations locally and internationally to stay current with developments.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in library and information studies or a related field.
• Minimum of four years experience as Deputy Librarian or equivalent in a college of education.
• Analytical, critical, research‑oriented and able to complete at least one term before retirement age of 60.
• Strong leadership and administrative capabilities.
