Data Manager

About the role

The Data Manager will oversee the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and timely reporting. Working under the Chief Health Information Officer, the role supports malaria surveillance and health information system development across Ghana.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain NMEP databases such as DHIMS2 and malaria surveillance systems.
• Coordinate collection, cleaning, validation, and quality checks of routine malaria data from regional and district levels.
• Analyse programmatic malaria data and produce reports, dashboards, and visualisations for decision‑making.
• Provide technical support and capacity‑building to regional and district data officers on data management and reporting tools.
• Support preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual NMEP reports, donor reports, and data needs for surveys, surveillance, and operational research.
• Maintain documentation of data management processes, SOPs, and ensure secure data backup in line with protection protocols.
• Collaborate with partners to develop health management information systems for planning, monitoring, evaluation, and dissemination of malaria elimination data.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Public Health or related field (Master’s degree advantageous).
• Minimum of 3 years experience in data management, preferably in public health or M&E settings.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and travel to regions and districts for data support.

Required skills

• Proficiency with DHIMS2 and other health information management systems.
• Advanced use of Excel for data analysis.
• Experience with statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, or R.
• Capability to create visualisations using PowerBI.
