Database Administrator – Oracle & MS SQL

About the role

Telecel Ghana is looking for an experienced Database Administrator to manage its Oracle and MS SQL database platforms across Accra and Tema. You will ensure reliable operation, support testing and deployment of new components, and provide Level 1‑3 technical support for the entire database estate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and decision‑making for database environments, including servers, data‑centre DB configuration, and clustering.
• Consult on requirements definition, design, development, and integration of complex database projects.
• Manage project deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, and support of all IT database systems.
• Investigate and resolve escalated issues, ensuring adequate resources are allocated.
• Review tests, integrations, and solutions delivered by less experienced personnel for accuracy.
• Communicate standards and principles for distributed database environments.
• Coordinate with key vendors and align technical road‑maps with long‑range planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field (preferred).
• 3+ years of database administration experience, with at least 2 years in a technical management capacity.
• Strong experience with Oracle and MS SQL Server.
• Proven experience in database clustering and self‑monitoring solutions.
• Ability to develop business cases, cost/benefit analyses, and support IT spending decisions.
