Director of Finance

About the role

The Director of Finance reports to the President of Ghana Technology University College and is responsible for the overall financial management and administration of the university. This senior officer provides strategic financial advice and ensures compliance with relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance directorate, advise the President, and prepare financial statements, accounts and estimates for the Academic Board and Council.
• Prepare and present the annual university budget, manage cash flow, and authorise payments.
• Maintain books of accounts in accordance with Council and Auditor‑General requirements and report any failures to the Finance Committee.
• Prepare consolidated accounts, facilitate internal and external audits, and source funding for the university.
• Ensure compliance with the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921) and undertake any other assignments from the Council or President.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Accounting/Finance.
• Member of a recognised professional accounting body (e.g., ICA Ghana, ACCA, CIMA).
• At least ten years post‑qualification experience, including four years in a senior finance role within a university or equivalent institution, or fifteen years in a reputable firm, industry, commerce or public service.
• Proven integrity, competence, contemporary leadership, communication and ICT skills.

Required skills

• Professional accounting qualification (ICA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Financial reporting and budgeting.
• Audit facilitation and compliance with public financial management legislation.
