Edge Banding Machine Operator

About the role

The Edge Banding Machine Operator joins our production team at Chain Design Studio, a luxury kitchen and wardrobe manufacturer. You will operate the automatic edge‑banding line to apply PVC, ABS, acrylic, veneer or 3D edge tapes to cabinet components, ensuring flawless seams that meet our premium standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor an automatic edge‑banding machine for edge materials ranging from 0.4 mm to 3 mm.
• Load the correct edge material and program machine parameters (speed, temperature, glue, pressure, trimming, buffing) according to job specifications.
• Receive cut panels from beam saw/CNC, verify dimensions and feed them accurately to maintain production flow.
• Inspect finished edges for glue voids, over‑hang, chipping, burn marks and colour match; ensure corner radius and flush trimming meet luxury tolerances.
• Monitor hot‑melt glue levels, clean the glue pot and perform daily cleaning of feed chains, trimmers and buffing wheels; report any mechanical issues.
• Optimize edge‑tape usage to reduce waste and re‑work.
• Record production output, material consumption and log defects for continuous improvement.
• Follow machine safety procedures, wear PPE and keep the work area organized to 5S standards.
• Coordinate with Beam Saw, CNC and Assembly teams to achieve daily production targets.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience operating an automatic edge‑banding machine in furniture, kitchen or wardrobe production; experience with Homag, Biesse or SCM preferred.
• Ability to read cutting lists and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail; must achieve perfect seams, no visible glue lines and exact colour matching.
• Problem‑solving mindset for issues such as glue starvation, tape misalignment or trimmer adjustments.
• Physical ability to lift and maneuver panels up to 20 kg and stand for full shifts.
• Knowledge of workshop safety and machine guarding.
