Electrical Engineer – Contract (1 year)

About the role

The Electrical Engineer will oversee inspection, maintenance, testing and troubleshooting of electrical infrastructure across surface and underground mining operations. The role aims to maximise equipment reliability, minimise downtime and ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory regulations and mine safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of underground E&I infrastructure, transformers, switchgear, HV/MV/LV panels and substations.
• Perform and analyse insulation resistance testing of cables and motors.
• Diagnose and repair faults in motors, drives and protection systems including VFDs, contactors and soft starters.
• Maintain operational integrity of critical pump motors, conveyor drives and fans.
• Implement condition monitoring such as thermographic scanning of switchgear and busbars.
• Maintain protection coordination and electrical safety systems.
• Prepare maintenance reports, test records and engineering documentation.
• Support commissioning, upgrades and integration of electrical systems.
• Participate in risk assessments, toolbox meetings and safety audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Maintenance Engineering with 3‑5 years relevant experience, or a Diploma with at least 10 years experience.
• Sectional Engineer or Inspecting Engineer Certificate of Competence from the Inspectorate Division of the Mineral Commission (IDMC).
• Professional Engineer (PE) licence from the Ghana Institution of Engineering or IET‑GH.
• Minimum three years of engineering experience, preferably in the mining industry.
