Electrical Technician – Lifting Equipment & Ancillary

About the role

The Electrical Technician – Lifting Equipment & Ancillary is responsible for maintaining and repairing lifting equipment and ancillary systems at the Obuasi mine. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, the role ensures all work complies with Ghanaian regulations and AngloGold Ashanti safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on lifting equipment and ancillaries to required standards.
• Complete daily pre‑start checks on equipment and tools, escalating any anomalies.
• Prepare tools and checklists for assigned tasks and execute work promptly.
• Identify and report equipment anomalies indicating maintenance needs.
• Provide accurate data to support the Maintenance Planner and close out SAP work orders.
• Operate equipment within safe limits and stop work when unsafe conditions arise.
• Adhere to the maintenance management system, documenting and signing off all work.
• Comply with environmental requirements, report deviations, and participate in audits.
• Ensure quality workmanship with inspection and testing prior to handover.
• Apply HSE regulations with zero tolerance for breaches and demonstrate safety behavior consistent with company values.

Required profile

• Secondary/Technical education with a certificate of successful completion of an auto‑electrical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City and Guilds, NVTI Grade 1).
• Three (3) years post‑apprenticeship experience as an Auto Electrician.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulation.
• Valid driving/operation licence.
• Fully literate and numerate with competence in mechanical trade.
• Knowledge of crane safe operation; underground experience is an advantage.
