Full-Stack Engineer (Payments Core)

About the role

The role will lead the technical build and continuous evolution of the core payments processing engine, handling authorisation, capture, settlement and reconciliation of every transaction. You will work across enterprise‑grade managed and open‑source environments, ensuring stability, auditability and deployability under regulatory scrutiny.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain services covering the full transaction lifecycle: authorisation, capture, refund, reversal, settlement and reconciliation.
• Own webhook delivery, retry logic, idempotency and signature verification frameworks.
• Develop and operate background job orchestration for scheduled and deferred workloads.
• Author and maintain advanced database logic – stored procedures, triggers and replication – with a focus on performance and consistency.
• Deploy and support services in both Windows and Linux environments, including containerised workloads and shell‑driven operations.
• Contribute to scripting and operational automation across multiple shell and scripting environments.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps and product teams to keep the payments smoke suite green on every release.
• Participate in on‑call rotation as first responder for payments‑related P1 incidents.

Required profile

• Minimum 5+ years professional software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in fintech or payments.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• Fluent written English and ability to produce clear technical documentation.

Required skills

• Enterprise object‑oriented framework for distributed transactional services.
• Enterprise relational database expertise (SQL, stored procedures, triggers, replication).
• Background‑job / scheduled‑task orchestration library.
• Windows shell automation and Unix/Linux shell scripting.
• Client‑side scripting with a widely used DOM/utility library for legacy front‑end components.
• Server‑side scripting language for legacy web modules.
• GitLab CI/CD pipeline authoring (.gitlab-ci.yml) and merge‑request workflow.
• Fintech/payments domain experience (payment gateways, card processing, wallets, mobile money, acquiring or settlement systems).
