Gender & Disability Inclusion Consultant (Lead)

About the role

The Gender & Disability Inclusion Consultant will lead a comprehensive assessment of gender and disability inclusion across the aquaculture value chain in Ghana. The role involves designing strategies, conducting field research, and delivering actionable recommendations for the SAWA program.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct gender analysis and disability inclusion assessments throughout the aquaculture value chain.
• Identify barriers and opportunities for women, young women, and persons with disabilities in employment, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
• Map relevant actors, services, and opportunities supporting inclusion and develop evidence‑based recommendations.
• Lead stakeholder consultations with program partners, communities, producer organisations, disability organisations, and government bodies.
• Develop three strategic documents: Young Women Engagement Strategy, SAWA Gender Strategy, and SAWA Disability Inclusion Strategy.
• Produce an inception report, assessment tools, draft and final assessment reports, validation workshop report, and an implementation roadmap covering up to five years.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Gender Studies, Disability Studies, Development Studies, Public Policy or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in gender equality, disability inclusion and social inclusion programming.
• Proven experience conducting gender analyses and disability inclusion assessments for donor‑funded projects.
• Experience developing inclusion strategies and working with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs).
• Strong knowledge of aquaculture, agriculture or rural livelihoods is highly desirable.
• Excellent qualitative and quantitative research, facilitation, analytical and report‑writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead stakeholder consultations and participatory research processes.
