Head of Engineering – .NET Core & React

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Engineering to provide technical leadership and hands‑on expertise across our web, mobile and backend platforms. Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will set the technical direction, drive architecture decisions and mentor a growing team of developers. The role is onsite in Accra, Ghana, with occasional in‑person collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the end‑to‑end technical direction for web (React/Next.js), mobile (React Native) and backend (.NET Core) platforms.
• Make pragmatic architectural choices between modular monolith and micro‑services, establishing service boundaries and integration patterns.
• Apply Domain‑Driven Design to create clear domain boundaries, bounded contexts, aggregates and domain events.
• Set and enforce high standards for code quality, testing, API contracts and documentation.
• Partner with Product Owners and Project Managers to clarify requirements, break epics into deliverable slices and estimate work.
• Plan sprints and releases, manage dependencies, mitigate risks and balance product speed with technical sustainability.
• Lead and mentor engineers through pair programming, design and code reviews.
• Drive database design, schema migrations, indexing and query optimisation, and establish observability foundations.

Required profile

• Proven senior engineering or tech‑lead experience with a track record of delivering production‑grade products.
• Strong system‑design skills and ability to communicate architectural trade‑offs to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Hands‑on experience with .NET Core, C#, React, Next.js and React Native.
• Practical knowledge of Domain‑Driven Design, modular monoliths and micro‑services architectures.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, migrations and performance tuning.
• Experience with modern engineering tools such as version control, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; master’s degree is a plus.
• Fluent English communication skills.
