Head of Internal Audit

About the role

The Head of Internal Audit will lead the bank's audit function, ensuring robust risk management and compliance across all operations. Reporting to senior management, this role is pivotal in safeguarding the institution's integrity and aligning audit activities with regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a risk‑based annual audit plan covering financial, operational, compliance, IT, branch and forensic audits.
• Assess compliance with Bank of Ghana regulations, AML/CFT, KYC and consumer protection requirements.
• Evaluate internal controls, policies and the reliability of financial information.
• Investigate fraud incidents and monitor the implementation of audit recommendations.
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports and liaise with regulators and external auditors.
• Provide advisory input on governance, risk and operational improvements.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least 60 months (5 years) of relevant audit experience.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary audit teams and manage complex audit engagements.
• Strong knowledge of banking regulations, AML/CFT, KYC and consumer protection standards.
