Head of Internal Audit

About the role

Ghana National Gas Company is seeking a senior professional to lead its internal audit function. Reporting functionally to the Audit Committee and administratively to the CEO, the Head of Internal Audit will ensure robust control environments across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and review business control systems for effectiveness and report findings to management.
• Audit financial and operational systems regularly to ensure compliance with corporate policies and statutory requirements.
• Assess company risks and controls, confirming information accuracy and policy adherence.
• Make recommendations to improve processes, policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with external auditors and regulators to support governance, risk management and control objectives.

Required profile

• First degree in any discipline plus Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or a professional accountancy qualification; postgraduate degree is a plus.
• 8‑12 years of experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial internal audit role.
• Hands‑on, proactive, independent‑minded with strong people‑management capabilities.
• Knowledge of the industry and manufacturing environment is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency with modern Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) systems.
• Strong computer usage skills.
