Legal & Company Secretariat Officer

About the role

Coastal Commerce Microfinance Ltd is seeking a qualified legal professional to serve as the Legal and Company Secretariat Officer. The role will support the institution’s corporate governance, legal compliance, and board activities while ensuring that all statutory obligations are met.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on business and corporate matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements.
• Review corporate and legal documentation for compliance.
• Support Board and shareholder meetings and maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate preparation and circulation of Board papers and resolutions.
• Maintain statutory and corporate records and monitor governance obligations.
• Liaise with external legal counsel on legal matters.
• Identify potential legal risks and advise management on appropriate actions.
• Promote sound corporate governance practices across the institution.

Required profile

• LLB with a professional legal qualification.
• 3–5 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in financial services or corporate practice.
• Company secretarial or corporate governance experience is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of corporate law, contracts, regulatory requirements, and governance.
• Excellent drafting, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
