Manager – Short Term Planning & Scheduling

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is seeking an experienced Manager to lead short‑term mine planning and scheduling at its Obuasi underground operation. The role focuses on developing and maintaining detailed schedules that align with operational priorities and medium‑term forecasts.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain integrated short‑term and rolling 12‑week schedules, ensuring they reflect execution readiness and approved planning inputs.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to Scheduling Engineers and junior team members, supporting capability development.
• Validate schedule assumptions, activity durations and sequencing logic to produce realistic, executable plans.
• Monitor schedule performance, analyse variances and present findings in weekly and monthly planning forums.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of scheduling tools, processes and integration with technical services.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum eight years of underground mine scheduling experience, including five years in a senior supervisory role.
• Strong understanding of underground mining methods and operational practices.
• Ability to work underground and travel between work areas as required.
• Valid driver’s licence and fitness to meet site medical requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Deswik or equivalent mine planning software.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.
• Effective communication and collaboration with technical and operational teams.
