About the role

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) serves as the chief academic advisor to the Vice‑Chancellor and Council, overseeing all academic and student matters across the university. This senior leadership role guides the academic division, ensuring the institution delivers high‑quality teaching, research, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic academic advice to the Vice‑Chancellor and Council.
• Lead Academic Deans and ensure compliance with university policies, statutes, and national regulations.
• Collaborate with Deans and Programme Directors to develop and maintain undergraduate, graduate, and professional programmes.
• Recommend appointments of academic staff for teaching and research positions.
• Chair statutory committees as required by university statutes.
• Promote the effective use of emerging instructional technologies to enhance student learning.

Required profile

• Professorial rank with extensive experience in teaching, research, and university administration.
• PhD with a proven record of scholarly achievement and academic leadership.
• Deep appreciation of collegial governance and ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external partners.
• Understanding of contemporary higher‑education issues and emerging technologies.
• Previous senior academic role at least at the level of Dean.
