Process Plant Technician – CIC Maintenance

About the role

The Process Plant Technician – CIC is responsible for maintaining and refurbishing the Continuous Improvement Control (CIC) equipment at the Obuasi Gold Mine. Reporting to the Process Plant Supervisor, the role covers day and night shifts and ensures all work complies with Ghanaian regulations and AngloGold Ashanti safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and control risks before and during task execution, reporting incidents and corrective actions.
• Conduct day‑to‑day inspections, refurbishment, and preventive maintenance of CIC equipment, including visual, infrared, ultrasonic, motor current and flux checks.
• Gather and analyse vibration, infrared and other condition‑monitoring data to diagnose equipment health and support predictive maintenance.
• Generate work requests in SAP PM, coordinate contractors, and monitor equipment performance on the asset‑health system.
• Participate in root‑cause failure analysis, propose cost‑saving initiatives and drive continuous‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Technical qualification: Technician II Certificate, associate degree or technical diploma in Engineering Technology or related field (City & Guilds Part II preferred).
• 1–2 years of technical experience in mining or extractive metallurgy, with a solid understanding of proactive maintenance strategies.

Required skills

• SAP PM module for work request creation and maintenance planning.
• Instrumentation and electronic equipment maintenance.
• Vibration, infrared and ultrasonic data collection and analysis.
• Condition‑monitoring of rotating machinery using portable data collectors.
• Project management and root‑cause failure analysis.
• Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel.
