Project Officer – Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture

About the role

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture, in partnership with IFAD and the Special Climate Change Fund, seeks a Project Officer to lead the implementation of a climate‑change adaptation value‑chain project. The role is based in the national RTIMP Coordination Office in Kumasi and reports to the RTIMP coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and monitor SCCF activities, preparing annual work plans and ensuring alignment with the RTIMP.
• Coordinate SCCF and IFAD programme activities, supervise consultants/sub‑contractors and maintain quality control.
• Maintain links with technical implementation partners, NGOs, private service providers and media agencies.
• Oversee project information dissemination, networking among stakeholder communities and daily project management at national and district levels.
• Supervise procurement, equipment maintenance and infrastructure development.
• Lead capacity‑building, needs‑assessment and training for government officials and local stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum six (6) years of relevant experience in natural resource management, water management or agriculture.
• First degree in a related discipline; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• Demonstrated experience in climate‑change projects, development project management and monitoring & evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of national, regional and local stakeholder institutions involved in climate adaptation.
• Excellent English communication skills and ability to work in a multi‑sectoral, multicultural environment.
