Purchasing Officer

About the role

Big Gyimah Supplies Limited is seeking a proactive Purchasing Officer to manage the procurement of goods and services for its retail, fashion and FMCG operations across Accra and Tema. The role involves sourcing reliable suppliers, negotiating favourable terms and ensuring that purchased items meet quality standards while supporting the company’s growth objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and select suppliers and vendors that align with company needs.
• Obtain quotations, compare prices and negotiate prices, payment terms and delivery schedules.
• Prepare, issue and process purchase orders accurately and timely.
• Monitor the quality of received goods to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Maintain comprehensive procurement records and documentation.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with suppliers.
• Coordinate with finance and management on purchase-related matters.
• Resolve supplier issues such as delays, shortages or quality concerns.
• Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies and procedures.

Required profile

• HND or Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supply, Procurement, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years (36 months) relevant experience in procurement or purchasing.
• Mid‑level professional with a solid understanding of the local market and supplier network.
