Quality Assurance Officer

About the role

Under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the Quality Assurance Officer supports laboratory analysis of raw and packaging materials and monitors in‑process quality to ensure finished products meet specifications. The role combines analytical testing, equipment calibration, and oversight of cleaning and packaging processes in a food‑production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Calibrate and maintain records for all analytical equipment according to procedures.
• Perform analysis of incoming raw materials and packaging, preparing reagents and replenishing stocks.
• Monitor in‑process quality from blending to packaging, ensuring “right‑first‑time” production.
• Control and document non‑conforming products/materials per SOPs.
• Supervise equipment cleaning, sanitation, and CIP processes, including start‑up checks on packaging lines.
• Inspect product packaging integrity (bottle condition, labeling, date coding, net content).
• Collect and label retention samples and maintain related records.
• Oversee on‑line inspectors and auxiliary staff on quality and food‑safety matters.

Required profile

• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Laboratory Technology or related field.
• Minimum three years of relevant post‑national‑service experience.
• Experience in an ethanol production or similar food‑manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Ability to work extra hours as required and follow safety and quality policies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of food safety and quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP).
• Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with calibration and maintenance of laboratory analytical equipment.
