Safety Officer – Manufacturing Plant

About the role

Join Sunda International as a Safety Officer responsible for maintaining a safe working environment across its detergent production facilities in Accra and Tema. You will ensure compliance with local HSE regulations and promote a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections of the plant and identify potential hazards.
• Monitor proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safety requirements.
• Perform risk assessments and implement control measures for chemicals, machinery, and electrical systems.
• Organise safety training, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑misses, and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain fire safety equipment, emergency exits, first‑aid facilities and response procedures.
• Keep accurate HSE documentation, including inspection and incident reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering or related field.
• 2–3 years of HSE experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
• Familiarity with Ghanaian occupational health and safety legislation.
• Relevant certification such as IOSH, NEBOSH is an advantage.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and reporting abilities.
• Willingness to work on shifts in a factory setting.
