Senior Accountant

About the role

The Ghana Communication Technology University is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead its financial and accounting functions. This full‑time position will be based in Accra and will support the university’s strategic financial management and compliance objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee preparation of financial statements, budgets, and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, university policies, and professional accounting standards.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and address audit findings.
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, reviewing their work and providing guidance.
• Manage cash flow, payroll processing, and expense control.
• Prepare and submit required reports and memos for external assessment.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting (regular track).
• Chartered Accountant status and membership of a recognized professional body (e.g., ICA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Minimum of four years post‑appointment experience as a Senior Accountant within a university setting.
• Demonstrated experience preparing at least five external assessment reports or memos.
• Ability to work on‑site in Accra.
