About the role
Plan, coordinate and implement livelihood restoration and skills diversification interventions for persons affected by project (PAPs) relocated under the Bibiani Resettlement Action Plan (RAP). The role ensures livelihoods are restored to at least pre‑project levels, vulnerable households receive appropriate support, and the community transition is well‑managed, monitored and reported in line with national law, lender requirements and international best practice.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and continuously update the Livelihood Restoration and Skills Diversification Plan, including baseline socio‑economic data, restoration targets, activity schedules and budgets.
- Coordinate delivery of livelihood interventions such as agricultural land access, alternative farming schemes, skills training, micro‑enterprise development and employment linkage programmes.
- Support PAPs settling into new resettlement communities by facilitating access to farmland, infrastructure and social services.
- Identify vulnerable households and design tailored support measures in partnership with gender and diversity teams.
- Design and maintain a monitoring and evaluation framework tracking income, food security, assets and restoration indicators.
- Prepare internal reports and contribute data to sustainability reporting, lender monitoring and independent RAP audits.
- Lead community consultations, maintain relationships with traditional authorities, district assemblies, NGOs and other development partners.
- Manage the LRSDP budget, ensure compliance with Ghanaian legislation, IFC Performance Standard 5 and internal policies, and mitigate social risks.
- Supervise and build capacity of field staff and community members, providing coaching and performance management.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Community Development, Natural Resource Management or a related field; a master’s degree is an advantage.
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in livelihood restoration, resettlement or community development, with at least three years in a senior or supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated experience implementing programmes aligned with IFC Performance Standard 5, preferably in mining or large‑scale development projects.
- Prior experience with Ghanaian resettlement programmes and familiarity with the Minerals and Mining (Compensation and Resettlement) Regulations 2012 (L.I. 2175) required.
- Experience in agricultural extension, agribusiness/micro‑enterprise development, vocational skills training or livelihood diversification programming.
- Experience conducting household socio‑economic surveys, baseline studies and livelihood monitoring and evaluation.
