About the role
Asante Gold is seeking a Senior Officer to plan, coordinate and implement livelihood restoration and skills diversification interventions for persons affected by project (PAPs) relocated under the Bibiani Resettlement Action Plan. The role ensures livelihoods are restored to pre‑project levels, supports vulnerable households, and manages community transition in compliance with Ghanaian law, lender requirements and international best practice.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and update the Livelihood Restoration and Skills Diversification Plan, including baseline data, targets, schedules and budgets.
- Coordinate delivery of interventions such as agricultural land access, agribusiness schemes, skills training, micro‑enterprise development and employment linkage programmes.
- Support PAPs settling into new communities by facilitating access to farmland, infrastructure and social services.
- Identify vulnerable households and design tailored support measures in collaboration with gender and diversity teams.
- Design and maintain a monitoring and evaluation framework tracking income, food security and asset levels, and prepare internal and external reports.
- Lead community consultations, maintain relationships with traditional authorities, district assemblies and development partners, and manage grievance redress mechanisms.
- Manage the programme budget, assess social risks and ensure compliance with Ghanaian legislation, IFC Performance Standard 5 and internal policies.
- Supervise and build capacity of field staff and community members through coaching, agricultural extension and business skills training.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Community Development, Natural Resource Management or related field; Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in livelihood restoration, resettlement or community development, with at least three years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience implementing programmes aligned with IFC Performance Standard 5, preferably in mining or large‑scale development projects.
- Strong knowledge of Ghanaian resettlement legislation, including the Minerals and Mining (Compensation and Resettlement) Regulations, 2012.
- Experience in agricultural extension, agribusiness/micro‑enterprise development, vocational skills training and conducting socio‑economic surveys.
