Station Accountant

About the role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a Ghanaian national to serve as the Station Accountant for its Ghana Station. Reporting to the Head of Station, you will oversee all finance and accounting activities, ensuring compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Oracle EBS modules (AP, AR, I‑Expense, FA) and maintain accurate financial records.
• Monitor budgets, prepare periodic financial reports, and conduct variance analysis.
• Supervise accounts assistants, expense claim processing, and procurement payments.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, oversee banking relationships, and process bank transfers.
• Handle monthly payroll for staff, consultants, and casuals, and ensure statutory payments (PAYE, SSF, etc.) are made on time.
• Perform general ledger reconciliations and assist with asset verification and impairment assessments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional qualification (CA, ACCA, etc.) required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an international NGO or similar environment.
• Strong command of English and excellent communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, able to prioritize tasks and work independently.
