Toolsroom Technician – Ahafo North Mine

About the role

The Toolsroom Technician provides efficient tools management for the drill and shovel teams at Newmont’s Ahafo North gold mine. You will ensure safe operation of all tool‑room equipment, maintain tool inventories, and support maintenance activities while adhering to health, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Issue, track and return tools and portable hand machines, keeping the tool store clean and organized.
• Maintain and repair oil dispensing systems, air regulators, lubricators, hose reels, pumps and IBCs, and manage waste oil disposal.
• Conduct periodic tool audits, ensure safety colour codes are up‑to‑date, and report damaged or missing tools monthly.
• Maintain workshop cleanliness, hazard‑free yard areas, and ensure emergency eye‑wash stations are functional.

Required profile

• National vocational Trade Certificate or degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a mining environment.
• Knowledge of maintenance principles, work‑management processes, planning and scheduling, and ISO procedures relevant to the department.

Required skills

• Operation of presses, surface grinders and power hand tools.
• Maintenance of oil dispensing systems, air regulators, lubricators, hose reels, pumps and IBCs.
• Use of oil‑water separators and emergency eye‑wash equipment.
• Computer literacy for manual and electronic tool record‑keeping.
