University Librarian (4‑year term)

About the role

The University Librarian leads the Koforidua Technical University Library, ensuring that teaching, learning and research are supported by up‑to‑date information resources. Reporting to the Vice‑Chancellor, the role is a full‑time, four‑year appointment with the possibility of renewal.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the acquisition, organization and provision of library and information resources.
• Manage the library budget and ensure equitable access to physical and virtual collections.
• Lead, motivate and supervise library staff, fostering a culture of professional development.
• Implement and maintain library management software aligned with the university’s vision.
• Develop strategies to meet the informational needs of faculty and students.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Library or Information Science; PhD is an advantage.
• Minimum six years experience as Deputy Librarian or equivalent senior role.
• Member of a professional librarianship body with at least 15 publications.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational and managerial abilities.
• Able to serve the full four‑year term before reaching retirement age of 60.

Required skills

• Proficiency with library management software or records management systems.
• Computer literacy.
