University Librarian (Full‑time)

About the role

The University Librarian leads the Koforidua Technical University Library, ensuring that students and faculty have access to up‑to‑date information resources for teaching, learning and research. Reporting directly to the Vice‑Chancellor, the role combines strategic leadership with day‑to‑day library management.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee acquisition, cataloguing and provision of print and digital resources.
• Develop and implement library policies in line with university statutes.
• Manage the library budget and ensure cost‑effective resource allocation.
• Lead, motivate and supervise library staff, fostering a culture of service excellence.
• Ensure equitable access to information services across physical and virtual environments.
• Promote research support services and scholarly communication initiatives.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Library or Information Science; PhD preferred.
• Minimum six (6) years experience as Deputy Librarian or equivalent senior role.
• Member of a professional librarianship or information science body.
• At least fifteen (15) cumulative scholarly publications.
• Demonstrated leadership, staff‑management and budgeting capabilities.
• Able to serve a full four‑year term before reaching retirement age of 60.

Required skills

• Proficiency with library management software and records‑management systems.
• Strong computer literacy, including digital resource platforms.
• Ability to develop and implement information‑resource strategies.
