Account Assistant

About the role

The Account Assistant will support the finance team by maintaining accurate accounting records, processing vouchers, and ensuring timely reconciliation of customer and payable accounts. This position works closely with the Head of Finance to uphold cash controls and contribute to the preparation of budgets and financial reports.

Key responsibilities

• Process vouchers and write cheques, recording the necessary journal entries.
• Prepare reconciliation statements for all customer and payable accounts.
• Follow up on outstanding reconciliation issues and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Collect and analyse revenue and expenditure data for reporting purposes.
• Provide feedback to the Head of Finance to ensure effective cash controls.
• Suggest improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record‑keeping.
• Ability to work independently and follow up on pending items.
• Good communication skills for interacting with internal teams.
• Basic understanding of budgeting and financial analysis.

Required skills

• Proficiency in standard accounting procedures.
• Experience with voucher processing and cheque handling.
• Ability to prepare and analyse reconciliation statements.
