Account Officer

About the role

The Account Officer is responsible for timely and accurate processing of payments, bank reconciliations and general ledger updates. The role supports strong financial controls, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement of finance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end processing of vendor and operational payments, ensuring accuracy, compliance and adherence to turnaround times.
• Monitor payment status and proactively communicate updates to stakeholders to resolve queries promptly.
• Investigate and resolve failed or returned payments, facilitating re‑processing to minimize delays.
• Serve as primary contact for payment‑related enquiries, fostering relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors and banking partners.
• Prepare accurate payment trackers and insights on performance, outstanding items and trends.
• Perform timely and accurate bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Ensure accounting transactions are correctly recorded in the general ledger, including journal postings and documentation.
• Maintain strong financial controls by complying with company policies, audit requirements and regulatory obligations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy and stakeholder experience.
