About the role

The Institute for Oil and Gas Studies at the University of Cape Coast invites applications for an Associate Professor position. The role is situated within the Faculty of Social Sciences, College of Humanities and Legal Studies, and focuses on teaching and research in energy, petroleum economics, natural gas engineering, petroleum commerce, and natural resource law and governance.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the designated energy and petroleum domains.
  • Supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate research projects.
  • Develop and lead research initiatives, securing funding and publishing in reputable journals.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental governance.
  • Engage with industry stakeholders and professional bodies to enhance the institute’s impact.

Required profile

  • Academic qualifications meeting the university’s criteria for Senior Lecturer promotion.
  • Minimum of seven refereed publications in the relevant field since the last senior lecturer appointment.
  • At least four years of teaching experience as a Senior Lecturer or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising postgraduate and undergraduate research.
  • Strong professional background in energy, petroleum, or related sectors.
  • Maximum age of 55 years.

Required skills

  • Expertise in energy economics, petroleum engineering, or natural resource law.
  • Proven research and publication record.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor students at various academic levels.
